Rockingham Council cancels July meeting

ROCKINGHAM — One Richmond County municipal board is canceling it’s July meeting.

Rockingham City Manager Monty Crump announced the cancellation in an email Thursday afternoon.

Crump said the meeting was being canceled, after discussion with Mayor Steve Morris, due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions.

He added that there was only one action item on the agenda, a property matter, that can be handled in August, along with other city business, including the approval of tax releases and minutes from the previous meeting.

This is the second time the Rockingham City Council meeting has been canceled during the pandemic.

In April, both Rockingham and Ellerbe canceled their respective meetings for that month.

Rockingham has also canceled the first three installments of the Plaza Jam Summer Concert Series for the months of May, June and July. An announcement on August will be made later.
