Rockingham Middle School Junior Beta Club Well-Represented at State Convention

News Release

 

Over 100 members of the Rockingham Middle School Junior Beta Club entered the Koury Convention Center in Greensboro, NC, on February 4 and 5 for the 26th Annual National Junior Beta Convention.

Members of the RMS Betas participated in an array of activities ranging from academic competitions to events illumination the arts.

The Rockets placed in several events including the following:

Second Place-Pen, Pencil, Ink— Jenna McRae

Second Place-Technology— Macy James, Madison Jenkins, Addison Massey, Ethan McDonald, Chloe Monroe, Sophia Razon, Abby Russell, Maylyn Wallace, and Abigail Williams

Third Place- Sculpture—Mitchell Wallace

Third Place- Mathematics, Grade 7—Savannah Jordan

Third Place, Speech- Beta Minds Think Alike— Zane Searcy

Third Place, Wreath— Kierstan Davis, Loralye Veach

Top Five Songfest— RMS Songfest Ensemble

 

Additionally, the following students placed in the Top 10 in their division:

T-Shirt Design— Millie Ingram, Leah McLeod, Allyiah Swiney

 

Not only did the students represent themselves within individual and group competitions, but the RMS Beta Chapter received the G.O.L.D (Growth Opportunities in Leadership Development) Award for increased member attendance to the state convention (compared to the 2016-17 academic year).

 

The 2018 National Junior Beta Convention will be held in Georgia at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center, June 13-15.
