ROCKINGHAM — A man and woman are facing felony charges after an attempted robbery left one man shot over the weekend.
According to warrants, 19-year-old Andru Dyson Deberry, of Forrest Street, and 27-year-old Sumer Paige Turner, of Perry Leviner Road, attempted to rob a man at gunpoint, demanding he empty his pockets on June 21.
Deberry is accused of pointing a gun at that man and Jason Earl Gomiller, whom he allegedly shot.
The condition of the victim is unknown.
DeBerry and Turner are each charged with one count of attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon.
Turner was booked into the Richmond County Jail under a $50,000 secured bond.
Deberry is also charged with two counts of assault by pointing a gun and one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
He is being held under a $200,000 secured bond.
They are scheduled to appear in court July 2.
Online court records show Deberry has the following pending misdemeanor charges: four counts of resisting a public officer; two counts of assault on a government official or employee; one count each of breaking and entering and injury to real property.
He also has the following pending felony charges: breaking and entering; larceny after breaking and entering; altering or removing a gun’s serial number; manufacturing marijuana; and possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a Schedule VI controlled substance.
Deberry was convicted in May 2019 on misdemeanor charges of speeding to elude arrest, resisting an officer and aggressive driving, according to records with the N.C. Department of Public Safety Division of Adult Correction.
Turner was convicted in December 2019 of obtaining property by false pretenses.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
