Woman booked in Richmond County jail on murder charge

ROCKINGHAM — A woman is facing an open count of murder and other charges, according to Richmond County Jail records.

Alisha Sweet Williams, 26, was booked into the Richmond County Jail without bond on the murder charge at 4:36 p.m. Sunday, records show.

She is also being held on a $10,000 secured bond for failure to appear on a misdemeanor.

On Monday, Williams was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and given an additional $25,000 secured bond.

According to records with the N.C. Department of Public Safety, Williams was convicted of maintaining any place for a controlled substance in 2015.

More information is expected to be released by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office later on Monday.

Word of the homicide spread quickly on social media Sunday evening.

Online court records show Williams already had multiple pending charges, including: two counts each of felony breaking and entering and injury to real property; possession of cocaine; possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a Schedule II controlled substance; possession of a controlled substance on jail premises; maintaining a vehicle, dwelling or place for a controlled substance; larceny after breaking and entering; first-degree trespassing; driving while impaired; and other traffic violations.

Records show she was also previously convicted in 2015 of misdemeanor larceny and accessory after the fact of a felony in Moore County.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
