RAPID RESPONSE QUESTIONS” WITH ISAAC HINSHAW

Walk us through your couple of at-bats against Union Pines. How were you able to drive in three runs and how’d the home run feel?

Hinshaw: In my first at-bat I came up with runners on second and third with two outs, and I knew I needed to get those runs in. I simplified my approach by not getting too big and tried to just put the bat on the ball. And I singled up the middle to score two.

In the last inning, I came up with no outs and nobody on and we were up by five. I knew that if I got my pitch, I was going to put a good swing on it. I got into a 3-1 count and he threw me a fastball down and in that I barreled and got it out of the park. It felt good to hit my first homer this year.

What have you learned about yourself as a baseball player this season? In what ways have you helped the team?

Hinshaw: This season I have learned that this team is very talented and we are a good team. I believe we have the potential to be a great team, and to get to that, we just have to work on the little things and be mentally tougher.

What do you and the team hope to accomplish throughout the rest of the season?

Hinshaw: Throughout the rest of the season, as a team, we hope to be in the position to be able to compete for a conference championship.

How would you define the term student athlete? And what is your favorite class this semester and why?

Hinshaw: A student-athlete is someone who puts themselves in a position to succeed on the field by working hard in the classroom and having good time-management.

My favorite class this semester is weight training because I get to spend time getting better with my teammates.

What are your plans for after high school? What do you want to study and why?

Hinshaw: I plan to attend N.C. State University and major in computer science because NC State has always been my dream school
