RICHMOND COUNTY — Several area middle school baseball and softball teams earned victories this week.

Cordova baseball earns win over East Hoke

The Cordova Middle School baseball team won its first game of the week in big fashion, rolling to a 28-12 win over the East Hoke Middle School Eagles on Monday.

Having a big afternoon in the batter’s box for the Cavaliers were Dylan Locklear and Marquan Martin, both of whom had five RBIs in the win. Adding to the scoring barrage was Johnny Lunceford, who tacked on four more RBIs.

Lady Red Rams remain undefeated

Mike Way’s Lady Red Rams softball team notched its second win of the week Wednesday, run-ruling West Hoke Middle School 10-0. Eighth grader Quston Leviner earned another win on the season, while striking out 14 Lady Tiger batters and allowing just one hit.

Leviner and seventh-grade teammate Katie Way had a big day at the plate, each going 4-for-4 with three RBIs. Also contributing at the dish was Christi Jacobs, who went 1-for-4 with an RBI. Ryelan Lyerly and Jakayla Steele both recorded a base hit.

The win moved the Lady Red Rams to 5-0 on the season, and sets them up with a showdown with Carver Middle School (5-0) on Monday in Laurel Hill.

Note: The Red Ram baseball team also defeated West Hoke, finishing with a 15-5 win. No game information or stats were available at the time of publication.
