ROCKINGHAM — A strong second half by the Dieffenbach GM Superstore flag football team helped it earn a win on Thursday.
Facing off against Top Guns Strength and Performance Gym, Dieffenbach kept its opponent scoreless in the final two quarters to collect a 20-6 victory.
The two squads, made up of 10 to 12-year-olds, were competing in Rockingham Park and Recreation’s summer flag football league at Browder Park.
Dieffenbach took a 6-0 lead in the first quarter, and Top Guns responded with a touchdown to start the second frame.
Both teams failed to complete the conversion attempt to keep the score locked going into intermission.
A score and a two-point conversion on a passing play in the third quarter would be all Dieffenbach needed to win. The team carried a 14-6 lead into the final stanza.
One more touchdown in the fourth quarter finished the game’s scoring.
