PHOTOS: Lady Raiders hold first day of tryouts

ROCKINGHAM — One of four fall sports programs in action on Monday, the Richmond Senior High School girls’ tennis team held its first day of tryouts.

Third-year head coach Jessica Covington had seven players participate, with more expected to join throughout the early period.

Among those at Tuesday’s tryout were returners Addison Massey and Sheccid Heaton (seniors), Neely Turner and Ella Scott (juniors) and Hanna Smith (sophomore).

Newcomers to the team this fall will be seniors Ashlyn Bouldin and Savannah Jordan. Also helping out were seniors Matthew Burns and Ty Murray, who are members of the boys’ tennis team.

The Lady Raider tennis team will continue tryouts and practice this week from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
