ROCKINGHAM — A balanced diet of offense and defense, coupled with taking advantage on the bases, fueled a win for the Richmond Renegade baseball team on Thursday.
The Renegades defeated Scotland 10-3 in the first game of a two-game set with the Stripers.
Jeremiah Ritter, Riley Brown and Sam Thompson each pitched two innings. Closing out the seventh was Davis Faw.
Faw accounted for the team’s only extra-base hit, a double, which recorded a team-high two RBI.
Isaac Hinshaw added an RBI single in the win, and singles by Cain Hunsucker and Brown rounded out the four total hits.
Richmond scored several runs on passed balls and errors.
Jabari Douglas started a double play by catching a fly ball in center and throwing out the runner trying to tag from third. Hunsucker applied the tag.
Ending the game, Conner Phifer made a diving grab in right field.
