OBITUARY: Sharon Elizabeth Mabe

Sharon Elizabeth Mabe, 51, of Hamlet, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

She was born March 31, 1972, in Richmond County, daughter of the late George Marion Mabe and Rhonda Hewett McDonald.

Sharon was affectionately known by “sister.” She loved everything Elmo and loved Mountain Dew. She enjoyed listening to music, especially country, gospel and Elvis Presley. Sharon was unique and brought much laughter and joy to those who knew and loved her. She was loved by many friends and family who also supported her and helped with her care.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Larry McDonald; sister, Sonya Sanders; and brother, Daniel O’Neal.

Sharon is survived by her mother, Billie Jean Mabe of the home; twin sister, Karen Mabe of Greensboro; God-sister, Marchell Adams-David of Raleigh; special aunt, Shelby Jean O’Neal; and special family and friends, Gigi O’Neal, Neva Lee, Jenny Reynolds, Sherry Reynolds, Brenda Strickland, Mallory Morrison, Chadwick O’Neal, Tracey Owens, Janice Chavis, Vickie Covington, Serena and Earl Knight, Jessica Tarlton and family, Ginger Switzer, and Wendy Helms, as well as many others who knew and loved her.

The family would especially like to thank Cheryl Brady and Michelle Ledbetter with ResCare for the care they provided to Sharon, and Dr. Russell Miller and the staff of FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst, Neuro and Cardiac ICUs, as well as the staff of the ICU at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Richmond.

Visitation will be Monday, July 24, 2023 from 11 a.m.-noon at Harrington Funeral Home.

The funeral service will begin immediately following the visitation at noon in the chapel of Harrington Funeral Home with Pastor Ronnie Wayne Chavis officiating. Burial will follow at Northam Cemetery, Rockingham.

Harrington Funeral Home & Crematory is serving the Mabe family.
