CAMERON — A balanced effort on both sides of the line of scrimmage helped the Richmond Raiders record their second straight shutout win on Friday.

Three rushing scores and three positive turnovers fueled a 26-0 win over Union Pines High School in Sandhills Athletic Conference play.

The victory marked the first time in four seasons that the team had consecutive shutouts, which saw the defense extend its streak of not allowing a point to 10 quarters.

The Raiders started the scoring with a safety by senior defensive end Jacoby Martin on the Vikings’ second drive.

Later in the first half, an 18-yard rushing score by senior running back Jaliel Green and a 19-yard field goal by junior kicker Billy West made it 12-0 at halftime.

Another rushing touchdown by Green of five yards and a seven-yard house call by junior tailback Jordan Bostick accounted for Richmond’s scoring in the second half. West was 3-for-3 on point-after attempts.

Richmond’s first-half turnover was an interception by senior defensive back David McNair.

Senior defensive back Jamison Jones (fumble recovery) and junior defensive back AJ Covington (interception) helped lock in the shutout of the Vikings (2-5, 1-2 SAC).
