ROCKINGHAM — The familiar sound of basketball shoes squeaking on the hardwood returned to Richmond Senior High School’s gymnasium this week.

As local sports fans prepare to turn back their clocks this weekend, another season of Raider and Lady Raider basketball is dialing up.

The rosters for the Richmond boys’ and girls’ basketball teams have been set and both programs have started practices ahead of their respective season openers. Thursday was the first official practice for both squads.

Donald Pettigrew enters his fifth season at the helm of the Raiders, while Teddy Moseley begins his fourth with the Lady Raiders.

The boys will travel to Southern Lee High School for a preseason jamboree on Saturday, Nov. 13, and the girls will also play in a jamboree at Terry Sanford High School.

The Richmond Observer will publish full season preview articles for both programs ahead of the start of the season.
