ROCKINGHAM — Monday marked the first official day of fall sports in North Carolina for the 2023-24 school year and the Richmond volleyball team was one of the school’s first programs to host tryouts.

Over 40 players participated in day one of the three-day tryout in Richmond’s gymnasium. Leading the way was sixth-year head coach Ashleigh Larsen along with assistant coach Melissa Dennis.

Student-athletes worked through a series of passing and hitting drills, while also incorporating some live-action situations.

Tryouts will resume on Tuesday and Wednesday, with the final rosters being posted for the varsity and junior varsity team on the final day.
