ROCKINGHAM — Two first-half leads didn’t hold up for the Richmond Senior High School football team on Friday.

Hosting No. 5 Cardinal Gibbons High School, the Raiders suffered their third straight loss of the season. The final score against the Crusaders was 26-9.

With 30 seconds left in the first quarter, junior kicker Billy West gave the Raiders a 3-0 lead. He was good on a 36-yard field goal, a career-long for West.

After the Crusaders scored and made a two-point conversion, senior wide receiver Javian Drake muscled his way into the end zone to give Richmond a 9-8 lead.

Catching a 17-yard pass from sophomore quarterback Domonic Tillman, Drake extended over the goal line while shedding several tacklers with 4:04 left in the first half.

It was Drake’s second touchdown reception in two games and Tillman’s first career scoring toss.

The Crusaders (2-1) took a 16-9 lead into halftime before scoring once more and adding a field goal in the final two quarters.
