CLASSROOM CREDITS WITH RENA DRAKE

It’s finals week at Richmond and Drake will close out her first semester of her junior year. She’s a dual-enrollment student who takes classes at Richmond and Richmond Community College.

During the first nine-week grading period, Drake made A/B honor roll . Also an honors student, she has a 3.80 GPA.

This fall she’s taken English 111 at RichmondCC, as well as Math III Honors, Health Science I and Weight Training Honors at the high school.

Starting next week, Drake will transition to her second semester classes. She’ll take Civic Liberty Honors, English III Honors and Health Science II at Richmond, along with another English course at RichmondCC.

“Dual-enrollment helps a lot,” Drake explained. “It’s lets me earn college credits while still in high school and the schedule is more flexible. I’ve learned how to manage my time and classwork.

“Math III Honors has been my favorite class this semester because it’s my favorite subject,” she added. “Ms. (Catherine) Lang knows how to interact with her students to help us learn the material. I like math because it’s easy and practical. Next semester I’m looking forward to Health Science II because I want to be a nurse.”

“SEASON-HIGH” WITH RENA DRAKE

Unable to play in the first of the Lady Raiders’ two games last week, a win over Union Pines High School, Drake made up for it Saturday.

Drake matched her season-high with 10 points in the win, splitting her scoring between the second and third quarters. She also made five steals on defense and recorded four rebounds.

With Richmond leading 14-6 to start the second quarter, Drake joined the scoring to lead all players with six points in the period.
