This week, Humann will put in extra effort in the classroom and the pool as Richmond begins final exams for the first semester. He’s a dual-enrollment student who takes classes at Richmond Community College and is also in AP and honors classes at the high school.

A straight-A student with a 4.64 GPA, Humann has taken two RichmondCC classes this fall. They were English 111 and Public Speaking 231. His other courses include AP Literature and Composition, AP Music Theory and has served as a fall music education intern with Mrs. Lauren Lutz.

Beginning next week, Humann will start a fresh set of classes one last time. He’s scheduled to take English 112, Junior Leadership Honors, Personal Finance and Advanced Vocal Music.

Humann is also largely involved in other organizations at Richmond. He’s a general member of the Senior Senate, National Beta Club, National Honors Society and is the president of chess club.

“Senior year is going really fast but it’s been memorable,” Humann said. “I’ve still been able to make new friends and there have been a lot of opportunities that have presented themselves to allow me to become more involved in the community.

“After high school, I’m still considering where to go,” he added. “I’ve been accepted to ECU and am waiting to hear from N.C. State, N.C. A&T and UNC-Charlotte. I want to study engineering because I want to do something different everyday, I like math and science and I want to help create a better future.”

The Raiders competed in their fourth Sandhills Athletic Conference meet of the season last Wednesday at the James A. Leach Aquatic Center in Raeford.

Richmond finished third overall in the final standings for the fourth consecutive meet with 117 points.

Humann set two personal records in two individual events. He also was a part of two relay teams that set season-fastest times.

Tying his season-high with 22 points across two events, Humann started his night with a fourth-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle. He completed the lap in the pool in 27.66 seconds for 11 points, which was 0.10 seconds faster.
