Wet weather shifts around Post 49’s remaining games

HAMLET — Local fans will have to wait a little longer before getting a chance to see the Hamlet American Legion baseball team play on its home field again.

Head coach Chip Gordon announced that Wednesday’s Area 2 conference game against Hope Mills Post 32 had been postponed due to wet field conditions.

The rain this week has also shifted around some other games for Post 49, which will no longer play in the UNCW Invitational because of the forecast.

Wednesday’s game against Hope Mills has been moved to June 29, and Hamlet’s conference game against Brunswick Post 543 (which was part of the UNCW Invitational) has been moved to Sunday at Middle Creek High School.

Two non-conference games against Plymouth Post 164 and Port City Post 545 have been canceled, Gordon explained, in order to play Area 2 games.

Below is an updated schedule for Hamlet Post 49 for the rest of the regular season. All game times are at 7 p.m.
