Boyce Hugh Beachum Jr.

MARSTON — Mr. Boyce “Buddy” Hugh Beachum Jr., 80, of Marston, went home to be with his Lord, Thursday, Sept. 30, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Jan. 31, 1941 in Anson County, son of Boyce Hugh Beachum Sr. and Beatrice Mae Beachum.

Mr. Beachum was medically retired from the U.S. Air Force, in which he proudly served, and was a Vietnam veteran. After retirement from the Air Force, he worked as a security guard with Waccamaw Pottery and Morrison Correctional Institute.

He attended church throughout his life, devoting his time spiritually mentoring youth. He was a Royal Ambassador teacher and also served as a deacon. He loved the Lord and served him faithfully. With the large family that he and his wife created, he instilled the value of working. During his children’s younger years, he and his wife, Barbara, served as 4H leaders. They also fostered many children throughout their lives. Being involved with his children was important to him. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Birdwatching, hunting and fishing were enjoyments to him. He and Barbara spent many days birdwatching and enjoying their coffee together.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother that raised him, Malene Ross Beachum; and two grandsons, Brandon and Michael Oxendine.
