ROCKINGHAM — Carl William Dunn, 85, of Rockingham, completed his earthly journey Thursday, July 25, 2019.
Carl was born April 9, 1934 in Richmond County, a son of the late Evans and Evie Gillis Dunn. He was a graduate of Rockingham High School, attended Presbyterian College and served his country in the U.S. Army. He had retired from Ingersoll Rand and was a member of Beverly Hills Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Betty Chavis Dunn; a grandson, Martin Yakimovich; and brothers, Roy, James and Frank Dunn.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Larry Dunn (Tammy Bennett) and Kelly Dunn Frye (Patrick); grandchildren, Kristen Fisher (Rusty), Ashley Frye Dawkins and Evan Frye (Erehn); great-grandchildren, Allison Dawkins, Ryan Dawkins, Rowen Frye, John Allen Fisher and William Martin Fisher;and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Beverly Hills Baptist Church with the Rev. Jody Short and the Rev. Mickey Briles officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park.
The family will see friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 26, 2019 at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the home.
