Charles Ray McPherson

ROCKINGHAM — Charles Ray McPherson, 64, of Rockingham passed away Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

He was born in Richmond County, a son of the late James Ray and Margaret Heaton McPherson.

Charles worked in the textile and telephone industries. He enjoyed car shows, watching NASCAR and wrestling on television. He was a gentle giant who would help anyone without question. He loved all of his friends and family with his whole heart.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Mike McPherson; brother-in-law, Butch Strickland; and a sister-in-law, Jackie Watson Clark.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church in Wallace, South Carolina, with the Rev. Jerry Wayne Shaw, Bishop Marvin Taylor and Dwayne Wallace officiating. Due to COVID, we ask you to please wear a face mask and continue to social distance.

Surviving, his wife Kim Watson McPherson; his children, Mandy McPherson Moore (Chris) and Angie Lamont; granddaughter, Jorja “Fred” Moore; a sister, Gail Strickland; a brother, Scott McPherson (Cameron); numerous nieces and nephews.
