ROCKINGHAM — Christy Byrd, 46, of Rockingham passed away Monday, Nov. 8, 2021 at her home.
She was born Jan. 8, 1975 in Richmond County, a daughter of Jean Shepard Gibson.
She graduated from Richmond Senior High Class of 1993 and University of North Carolina at Pembroke Class of 2005. Besides spending time with her family and friends, Christy enjoyed being at North Myrtle Beach. She had a generous personality and would give a stranger the shirt off her back. An avid Tar Heel fan, she often spent time watching them on TV. She loved her two sons and would tell anyone who would listen how proud she was of them.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, Nov. 11, 2021 at 7 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lee Griffith officiating.
Surviving, her sons, Brandon Ingram and Justin Ingram, both of Rockingham; parents, Todd and Jean Shepard Gibson of Rockingham; a brother, Ronnie Gibson of Rockingham; and her furry companions, Toby and Sheba.
The family will receive friends from 5-6:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
