Cynthia Ann “Cindy” Hickman Lee

ROCKINGHAM — Hickman Lee, age 53, entered her heavenly home on Saturday morning, Oct. 26, 2019 at her home in Rockingham. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Cindy was born Jan 15, 1966 in Scotland County, the daughter of the late James and Evelyn Hickman. Cindy was the devoted wife of Gregory Lee of 29 years and she loved her husband, and their sons, Kevin and Jonathan. She also loved Jenny and Katie whom she viewed as her daughters.

After graduation from Scotland High School, she attended Richmond Community College. She began her career in management at Food Lion where she was employed until she became store manager of Hanes Leggs Bali in Rockingham. She held that position for the past 18 years.  

Cindy was a faithful member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church of Rockingham. She was very involved with the church ministries, having served as a Sunday school teacher and helping with Vacation Bible School.  Cindy lived the true life of a good Christian as she shared her faith in Jesus at every opportunity. She never missed an opportunity to be a blessing to others. Cindy was a very active member of the GFWC-NC, serving as the president of the Rockingham Junior Woman’s Club. Cindy also enjoyed her role as a baseball mom, following Kevin and Jonathan to support them and cheer them on at their games.

Cindy is survived by her husband, Gregory Lee and sons, Kevin Lee (Jenny) and Jonathan Lee (Katie). She is also survived by her brother, Buddy Hickman (Kaye), sisters, Jan Burney (Willis) and Betty Jo Smith (Jamie); sisters-in-law, Daphne Lee Smith (Thomas), Joanie Lee, and Charlene Lee (Darrin McInerney). She was also loved by her nieces and nephews, Lisa Hickman and Blake Hickman, Tyler Smith and Ashley Smith, Brandi Locklear (Nathaniel Locklear), Rhiannon Lee and Matthew Lee; great-niece, Skylia Locklear and great-nephews, Nate and Bentley Locklear.

Services celebrating her life will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 29 at Faith Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Travis Wilkerson officiating. Burial will follow the service in Ellerbe. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Tuesday beginning at 11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at Faith Missionary Baptist Church.

The family requests, in lieu of flowers, for memorial donations to be given in Cindy’s memory to the Faith Missionary Baptist Church Fellowship Hall Building Fund, 276 Hatcher Road, Rockingham, NC 28379.
