Frances Stogner

MAGGIE VALLEY — Frances Henson Stogner, 81, of Maggie Valley, formerly of Ellerbe, passed away Thursday, Oct. 3, 2019, at Silver Bluff Village, Canton.

She was born Nov. 18, 1937, in Cleveland County, daughter of the Rev. Claude W. Henson Sr. and Cleo Foster Henson.

Mrs. Stogner was a member of Springhill Wesleyan Church, Hamlet; was the choir director for Rockingham Wesleyan Church for 47 years; and previously worked as a seamstress at Rockingham Industries.

Visitation will be held Monday, Oct. 7 at Springhill Wesleyan Church, 289 Springhill Church Road, Hamlet, from 6-8 p.m. At other times the family will receive friends at her son’s home, 906 Richmond Road, Rockingham.

The Celebration of Life will be at Springhill Wesleyan on Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Stanley Stogner, Rev. Bob Scott and Rev. Henry Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 55 years, Billy Stogner; sisters, Cornelia Hayes, and Mable Adams; and brother, C.W. Henson Jr.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Garman (Joe) of Maggie Valley; son, Lynn Stogner (Connie) of Rockingham; sisters, Claudia Bryant (Charlie) of Hamlet, Carolyn Goodnight of Hamlet and Susan Blaine

of Maiden; sister-in-law, Dorothy Hodges (J.C.) of Rockingham; grandchildren, April Myers (Chris), Billy Parker and children, Emma and Drew.
