DAYTON, OHIO – Gerald C. Anderson passed away on August 27, 2018 in Dayton, Ohio. He was born on April 2, 1933 to Robert Luther Anderson and Ida Corinne Caldwell of Curwensville, Pennsylvania.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ruth (Campbell) and son, Gerald C. Anderson Jr.  He is survived by two daughters, Joyce A. Bufano (Paul) of Rochester, New York, and Doris J. Keith (Karl) of Dayton, Ohio, nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Mr. Anderson was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the 82nd Airborne, U.S. Army.  He met his wife, Betty, while stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and they were married on March 21, 1953. A member of IUE-CWA Local 801, Gerald was a sheet metal worker at General Motors in Dayton, Ohio, and he was known as Andy to his friends and co-workers.  He and his wife Betty relocated to Rockingham, North Carolina upon his retirement. Andy was a member of a number of organizations including the Masons, American Legion, VFW, Fraternal Order of the Eagles and the Appalachian Trail Conference.

Services for Mr. Anderson will be held on Wednesday, September 5 at 2:00 pm at the Carter Funeral Home, 705 S. Caroline Street in Rockingham.  A gathering of family and friends will take place an hour before the service.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Hospice of Dayton, Ohio, www.hospiceofdayton.org.
