Howard Hamm Jr.

ROCKINGHAM — Howard Samuel Hamm Jr., 64, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 17, 2019 at the home of his sister, Betty, where he had been residing for the past 15 years. He was born in Anson County on June 21, 1954, a son of the late Howard S. Hamm Sr. and the late Polly Ann Brown Gore. 

Howard was a member of Cobb Memorial Baptist Church. He was a man of kindness who loved his church and enjoyed attending services. He was known as the “The Candy Man” because he always took candy to church to give out. His greatest joy was in helping others and making others happy.

In addition to his church family, his memory will be cherished by his siblings: Betty Hamm Skipper (James R.) of Rockingham, Keith Gore (Tammy) of Delco, Brenda Kressley (Earl) of Leland, Della Sue Canady (Randy) of Wilmington and Debbie Chessom (Chess) of Wilmington.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 19 at Cobb Memorial Baptist Church with Pastor Chuck McKnight officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service in the church. Interment will follow in Richmond Memorial Park.

Carter Funeral Home of Rockingham is serving the family of Mr. Hamm.
