CALABASH — Joel “Buddy” Smith, 57, of Calabash, formerly of Moore County, passed away, Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019 at his residence.
He was born Oct. 15, 1961 in Dillon, South Carolina, son of Willis Henry and Eula Leviner Smith.
Buddy was a mail carrier for years in the Moore County area, and a veteran of the U.S. Army, 82nd Airborne. He enjoyed sports, especially the Steelers and Clemson, fishing and golfing; he also enjoyed traveling and his cats, Bubba, Scooter and Stinx. He had a great love for his family.
Visitation will be Sunday, Sept. 15, 2019 at Harrington Funeral Home, 214 McDonald Ave., Hamlet, from 1-2 p.m.
The funeral will begin in the Chapel at 2 p.m., with burial to follow at Smith Family Cemetery, N.C. 38.
He is survived by his daughter, Kathryn Smith of Raleigh; brother, Layne Smith of Laurinburg; and sister, Wanda Smith of Wagram.
