John Henry Leviner

LILESVILLE — John Henry Leviner, 72, of Lilesville, formerly of Hamlet, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2021 at Scotland Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Scotland County Nov. 6, 1948, son of William Frank “Duck” Leviner and Juanita Pettit Leviner. 

A man who loved people, spending time with his family, deep sea fishing, horses and was a lifelong Minnesota Vikings fan; a very giving person and a wonderful father! He enjoyed being with his family around a big campfire as they ate his famous “chicken bog” that was said to be wonderful! His children saw him as the backbone of the Leviner family and he will be missed!

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Big John Leviner; brothers, William Frank Leviner, Bobby Leviner, Dennis Leviner, Lee Leviner and Robbie Leviner; and granddaughter, Adalyn Leviner. 

Survivors include his daughters, Crystal Leviner and Wanda Powell, both of Hamlet; sons, Robin Leviner of Hamlet, Shannon Leviner of Athens, Tennessee, Joshua Leviner of Rockingham and Blake Leviner of Rockingham; brothers, Charles Leviner, Kenny Leviner and Tim Leviner, all of Hamlet, and Roger Leviner of Rockingham; sister, Inez Smyers of Hamlet; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many friends.

A walk-through visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 29, 2021 from 1-2 p.m. at Kings Gate Church. The funeral will begin in the church at 2 p.m. 

Masks are required and we ask to please continue to practice social distancing.
