Kathryn Lucille Swails Henderson

HAMLET — Mrs. Kathryn Lucille Swails Henderson, 93, of Hamlet passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 surrounded by her family.

A graveside service for Mrs. Henderson will be held on Friday, March 26, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Richmond County Memorial Park with the Rev. Thomas Greene and the Rev. Meagan Greene officiating. If you attend, the family asks that you wear a facemask and maintain social distancing guidelines.

Lucille was the daughter of the late Rev. Harris Swails and Marie Swails. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Henderson; sister, Eloise Stewart and her husband the Rev. Robert (Bob) Stewart; and sisters in-law, Margaret Henderson, Mildred Henderson and Audrey Ussery.

Left to cherish Lucille’s memory are her daughters, Luann Morse and husband Duff of Rockingham and Marsha Williams and husband Bobby of Hamlet; grandchildren, Robert “Robby” Williams II and Jonathan “Johnny” Williams both of Hamlet, Thomas Greene and wife Meagan of Erwin, and Ethan Greene and wife Joanna of Springfield, Virginia; great grandchildren, Ian and Noah Williams of Hamlet; brother-in-law, Samuel Lamar Henderson; three nephews; and a special daughter, Angela Brower.

Lucille’s parents instilled in her the values of faith, kindness, love of God and love of family, which she carried with her throughout her life. God granted Lucille a tremendous ability to work with children. She nurtured and taught generations of children for 31 and a half years as a teacher at Great Falls School and Fairview Heights Elementary. She was a lifelong follower of Christ and served her Lord in many capacities in the Pentecostal Holiness Church. At the time of her death, she was a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church of Rockingham where she poured her heart out in service to the Lord.

Lucille loved her family more than anything. Lucille was a loving wife, a dedicated mother, an extraordinary grandmother, and a beloved great-grandmother.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Scotia Village and Morrison Manor Scotland Regional Hospice for the excellent care Lucille received.
