Larry Wayne Evans

HAMLET — Larry Wayne Evans, 72, of  Hamlet, passed away on Aug. 22, 2021 at Hospice Haven of Richmond County.

Larry was born on Oct. 12, 1948 in Yadkin County, North Carolina, the son of Cecil Taylor Evans and Lois Caudle Evans.

He was a Vietnam veteran and was an advocate for all veterans. He was a member of VFW Post 4203 for 34 years, Post 4203 commander for two years, quartermaster for 15 years, District 9 adjutant and was in charge of the VFW Post 4203 Veterans Memorial Park.

He loved his fur babies, Dallas, Foxy, Bella and Rinny. He loved music, flowers, playing cards, singing and traveling.

He is survived by his wife, Cecelia Eileen Evans; three daughters, Kellie Evans (Rodney Odom), Tonya Cook, Chasity Harrington (Dorien); brother Richard Evans, Bobby Atkins (Pam); 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie Evans.

Funeral service with military honors will be held at noon Thursday at VFW Post 4203.

Interment will follow in Richmond Memorial Park.
