OBITUARY: Barbara Ann Wiggins Cornelius

Barbara Ann Wiggins Cornelius, 82, of Rockingham, passed away surrounded by her loving family at Richmond County Hospice Haven Thursday, Feb. 22, 2024.

Barbara was a daughter to the late Ollie Mae and M.L. Wiggins in Richmond County.

Along with her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, John J. Cornelius Jr.; great-granddaughter, Autumn Leigh Eason; and great-grandson, Jonathan Lewis Baker.

Barbara took pride in raising her family. She enjoyed shopping and spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids. Barbara loved to sew and knit. She was a member of Beverly Hills Baptist Church before transferring her membership to First Baptist Church of Oak Island, and loved her church family dearly.

Barbara is survived by her children, Terry Cornelius (Susan) of Rockingham, Susie Stiwinter (Darrell) of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Dean Cornelius of Akron, Ohio; siblings, Judy Wiggins Ward (Terry) of Rockingham, Sandra Kay Lawing of Kannapolis, and Robert “Buck” Wiggins (Janet) of Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Aimee Eason (Michael) of Rockingham, Joseph Cornelius (Erica) of Conway, South Carolina, Candace Tucker (Chris) of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Michelle (Mike) Huey of Blackstock, South Carolina, Nathan Fickling (Erica) of Rock Hill, South Carolina, and Chris Cornelius (Heather), Charles Cornelius and Zackary Cornelius all of Akron, Ohio. Barbara also leaves behind 20 great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss her dearly.

The family will receive friends for visitation Monday, Feb. 26, 2024 from noon to 1:15 p.m. at Watson-King Funeral Home, in Rockingham.

Graveside services will follow the visitation at Richmond County Memorial Park with the Rev. Terry Cornelius officiating.

In addition to flowers, memorial donations can be made to Richmond Co. Hospice at 1119 N. U.S. Hwy 1, Rockingham, NC 28379.
