ELLERBE — Mr. Donald Wilson Currie, 52, of Ellerbe, passed away on Aug. 14, 2022 in Richmond County.
Donald grew up in Richmond County and was a dedicated father, son, brother and a loyal friend to others. Donald graduated from Richmond Senior High School in 1989 and worked at Richmond Memorial Park Cemetery for several years where everyone knew him as the “Gravedigger.” Donald had a big heart and was loved by many. He could make anyone change their mood with his smile or his humor.
Donald was preceded in death by grandparents Eddie and Ivery Currie and Woodrow and Kathleen Mills.
He is survived by his two daughters, Brianna and Tiffany Currie and a son, Daniel Currie; one granddaughter, Violet; his mother, Barbara Mills of Hamlet, his father, Henry (Melinda) of Ellerbe; sisters, Pam Mitcham (Todd) of Myrtle Beach, Donna Hannah (Wayne) of Rockingham, Kimberly Reynolds (Bryan) and Ashley Davis (Rusty) of Ellerbe; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A private funeral service will be conducted Friday, Aug. 19 at 3 p.m. at Faith Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Travis Wilkerson officiating.
At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of his mother, Barbara Mills, 671 Louis Breeden Blvd., Hamlet.
