John Carl Denson, 95, of Rockingham, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Jan. 23, 1929, son of the late Luther Denson and Alma Ballard Denson.
Mr. Denson was a hard worker and worked as a fixer and machinist in textiles in his earlier years, and then later retired from Cameron Morrison, now Richmond Correctional Institution, as a correctional officer. He was a simple, Christian man, enjoying gardening, fishing, household projects, and home renovations. Helping anyone in need was one of his attributes, as well as being a devoted husband and good father. He loved spending time with his family.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Denson; and a sister, Lois Jean Denson.
Mr. Denson is survived by his wife of 63 years, Della Sue Wilson Denson of the home; son, John Denson (Tonia) of Rockingham; daughter, Carla Denson of Rockingham; and sister, Doris Spivey of Raleigh.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Harrington Funeral Home, Hamlet, with the Rev. Kerney Wilson Jr. officiating.
