OBITUARY: Lester ‘Jasper’ Edward Miles

Lester “Jasper” Edward Miles, 57, of Bennettsville, South Carolina, passed away Saturday, Aug. 19, 2023 at his home.

He was born Dec. 5, 1965, in Marlboro County, South Carolina, son of the late Lauren Benjamin Miles and Elise Robinson Miles.

Jasper was an excellent automobile mechanic and could fix anything. He previously worked with Lindsey Steadman of Lindsey’s Tire Center in Rockingham and Ted Jackson of Wallace Motor Company in Wallace, South Carolina. He was an extremely proud Dallas Cowboys fan and a huge fan of NASCAR. Jasper was a good-hearted man and he loved his family dearly, especially his grandbabies. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Deanna Driggers Miles; brother, Dwight Allen Miles; and sisters, Lib Brown and Mary Lou Robinson.

Jasper is survived by his daughters, Alicia Miles and Chasity Miles, both of Wallace, South Carolina; grandchildren, Ella Bradshaw, Karleigh Bradshaw, Madison Miles, Liley Gray, Brenna “Pearl” Johnson, and Clayton Gray; brothers, Ben “Cooter” Miles (Michelle) of Rockingham and Tom Miles (Trish Thompson) of Bennettsville, South Carolina; sisters, Helen Brown of Georgia, Gearldine Jacobs of Hamlet, and Billie “Suzie” Miles of Laurel Hill; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2023 from 5-6 p.m. at Harrington Funeral Home, Hamlet.

The Celebration of Life service will immediately follow the visitation at 6 p.m., in the chapel of Harrington Funeral Home.

Burial will be held private by the family.

The family requests memorials be made to the charity of your choice.
