OBITUARY: Robert Lee Ford Jr.

Robert Lee Ford Jr., 72, passed away peacefully in the loving arms of Jesus at Hospice Haven on Aug. 22, 2022.

Robert was born on Dec. 28, 1949, the son of Robert Lee Ford and Mary Jane Weatherford Ford.

He is a 1968 graduate of Rockingham High School.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David Ford; sister, Dorothy Ford; his son, Brad Ford; and daughter, Kimberly Ford; also, his special furry companion of 14 years, Peanut.

Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Army who served in Vietnam. He was retired from Owens-Illinois. Robert was always easygoing and possessed a heart of gold. Robert also had a love for “fast” cars, fishing and watching Westerns.

Robert is survived by his loving daughter, Sherri Ford Kendall (Brian) of North Myrtle Beach; grandchildren, Peyton Harrelson and Savanna Harrelson of Greenville; Swade Ford and Taylor Ford of Rockingham; and nephew, Shane (Audren) of Leland. He also leaves behind his caregivers who have a servant’s heart, Aaron and Barbara Bowen of Rockingham.

A special thank you to Mrs. Essie, Miranda Watson and all the employees of Hospice and Haven House. Also, a special thank you to Annette Maness for all the love, support and meals.

The family will receive friends Thursday, Aug. 25, 2022 from 2-2:45 p.m. at Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham. A graveside service with military honors will follow at 3 p.m. at Richmond Co. Memorial Park with Richmond County Hospice Chaplain Chris Thornton officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Richmond County Hospice and Hospice Haven at 1119 U.S. Hwy. 1 N, Rockingham, NC 28379.
