OBITUARY: Shannon Arlene Patrick

On Thursday, Oct. 5, Shannon Arlene Patrick finally found her peace and went to her heavenly home.

She grew up in Rockingham and was a proud graduate of Richmond Senior High School, class of 1991. Her joy in life was taking care of others. She was always willing to reach out and help when needed and took pride in her work. Her most recent caregiving opportunity was being an aide to Johnny Long. She loved helping him live his best quality of life and enjoyed every moment she worked with him.

Surviving are her two daughters, Kendall Hornbuckle and Olivia Patrick; her grandmother, Lena Mae Pope; her mother, Sandra Deese; her sisters, Sandra “Jay” Patrick and Samantha Broline (Eric), and her brother, James “Jimbo” Calvin Patrick II; nieces and nephews, Mckenzie Blanton, Alicia Whaley, Erica Whaley, Mason Patrick, Danica Patrick and Aiden Rule; her loved and spoiled, by her, great-nieces and -nephew, Mylee Blanton, Melody Taylor and Chayton Hunt. She had a beloved grand-dog, Tarheel. Shannon also had many aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved her and will miss her greatly.

Wherever Shannon went, she would always see someone she knew and would take the time to check in with them and catch up. The class of 1991 held a special place in her heart, and she loved seeing her high school friends during their reunions and throughout life.

There will be a celebration of Shannon’s life at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham from 6–8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 12, 2023. Her daughters would like for any guests who plan to attend to wear vibrant colors in honor of her love for everything bright. She also loved butterflies, which would be a sweet gesture added to any flowers sent to the funeral home.

Please send any flowers to her mother’s home, 105 Valley Hill Drive, Rockingham, NC 28379.
