ROCKINGHAM — Richard Lawrence McIntyre, 79, of Rockingham, passed away Monday, Sept. 16, 2019 at his home.
Richard was born March 19, 1940 in Richmond County, a son of the late William Clayborn and Dollie King McIntyre. He had attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and had worked with JP Stevens, Clark Equipment, Burlington Industries and Fruit of the Loom. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Reece McIntyre; a son, Richard L. McIntyre Jr.; brothers, Ray, Jim and Joe McIntyre; and sister, Lois Scott.
Surviving are his children, Runa M. Chavis of Hamlet and Clay McIntyre (Shannon) of Rockingham; grandchildren, Samantha McIntyre, Ricky McIntyre, Tara Hough, Chris Chavis, Brittany Chavis and Halie Workman; seven great-grandchildren; brother, William “Toot” McIntyre of Rockingham, and sister, Faye Warner of Rockingham.
In keeping with Richard’s wishes, there will be no memorial services. The family will greet friends at the home, 248 Cartledge Creek Road, Rockingham, Wednesday, Sept. 18 from 5–7 p.m.
