HAMLET — Mr. Robert James Sr., 89, of Hamlet, passed away Friday, Nov. 27, 2020, at Whitshire Creek Crossing, Raeford.
Mr. James was born Sept. 11, 1931 in Hamlet, son of Lonnie James and Ennis Billings James.
He owned and operated a radiator shop for years and was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a people person who never met a stranger. He loved his family and especially his late wife, to whom he was married to for 64 years. He longed to be together again with her.
He was preceded in death by his late wife, Margaret English James.
Survivors include his son, Robert James Jr. and wife Becky of Rockingham; two grandchildren, Robert Warren James and wife Renee of Rockingham, and Amanda Lynn James of Hamlet; three great-grandchildren, Macy, Marley and Alec; and many nieces and nephews.
On Monday, Nov. 30, 2020, a viewing will be held at Harrington Funeral Home from noon-2:30 p.m. (the family will not be present) Masks are required.
A graveside service will be held at Richmond Memorial Park, Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2020, at 2 p.m. Pastor Marvin Taylor will be officiating.
Burial will follow.
Masks and social distancing will be required.
