ROCKINGHAM — Steven Ray Garcia Sr., 59, of Rockingham, passed away Monday, Nov. 15, 2021 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital-Richmond.
Steven was born Jan. 5, 1962 in Fort Hood, Texas, son of Rudy J. Garcia and Margaret Ann Stubbs Garcia.
He was retired from the N.C. Dept of Corrections where he worked as a security guard. He was of the Catholic faith, loved nature, classic cars and trucks as well as 1:64 scale model cars and trucks. He had also previously worked for U..S Forest Service. He had a double major in Forestry and Parks & Outdoor Recreation from Southeastern Community College. He loved his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Latisha Cleveland Rich-Garcia; daughters and sons, Elizabeth Garcia, Brittany Garcia, Trisha Marie Alvarez (Alex), Steven Garcia Jr., Donald Garcia, Eddie Rich (Shelia) and Thomas Paul Rich, all of North Carolina; four grandchildren, Jersey, Lily, Juan and Alex; and sisters and brothers all of Texas.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
