ROCKINGHAM — Fans at Friday’s season-opening Richmond Raider football game will get an extra dose of entertainment.

The Richmond cheerleading program will be holding its annual “cheer night” as the Raiders begin the new season against Seventy-First High School.

Invited are all of the participants from July’s cheer camp, which had 110 campers attend.

Joining head coach Meredith Hood and the varsity cheer team in front of the crowd on the home sideline, campers will perform cheer on the Raiders against the Falcons.

During the first quarter, the “Raider babies” and elementary age group will perform. That will be followed by the middle school teams in the second quarter and the Richmond junior varsity team and head coach Whitney Shuler in the third quarter.
