ROCKINGHAM — Pins were falling to raise money last week at Striker’s Bowling Center.
The event, “Bowling for Babies,” was a fundraiser for the Richmond County Partnership for Children, with each team playing three rounds with trophies given out to the top three teams.
Competing teams included two from Place of Grace and one featuring members of the Partnership’s Circle of Parents group. The RO’s William R. Toler joined the latter on the second round to bring the team up to four people.
The Circle of Parents Team — playing with the gutter rails up — placed second behind the men’s team from Place of Grace comprising Pastor Gary Richardson, Johnny Lisk, Jorge Flores and Matt Davis.
Lisk managed to bowl seven strikes in the final game.
The Partnership raised around $1,000 through entry fees, lane sponsorships and other donations.
Last year, the Partnership raised more than $1,000 with Bowling for Books.
Dr. Katrina Chance, executive director, said the Partnership plans to make the bowling tournament the organization’s signature annual fundraiser.
Within the past year, RCPC has also received: a $50,000 grant from Positive Childhood Alliance NC to enhance its Family Resource Center; and $1,500 from REV Federal Credit Union during the Seaboard Festival.
