ROCKINGHAM — A man already facing charges in a fatal copper theft attempt is now accused of child sex crimes.
Allan Joseph Subero, 42, of Cordova, is alleged to have engaged in sexual acts with a child under the age of 16 in January of 2024.
A warrant for Subero’s arrest was issued Oct. 14 to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, charging him with: statutory rape of a child 15 years old or younger; statutory sex offense with a child 15 years old or younger; and taking indecent liberties with a child.
Subero was arrested Nov. 2 and booked into the Richmond County Jail at 9:15 a.m. and is being held without bond on those charges. He has had his first appearance and his next court date is scheduled for Dec. 3.
Jail records show Subero is also being held on a combined $205,000 secured bond on other charges already pending in superior court.
In that case, Subero and an alleged late co-conspirator are accused of trying to steal copper from a telephone line when the pole broke and injured the other man, who later died from his injuries.
Subero also has pending charges from 2024 related to allegedly stealing and damaging property as a tenant.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
