As Richmond County continues to thaw from a weekend winter storm, several delays are slated for Tuesday.

Here is a list of announcements from around the county:

  • Richmond County Government Offices will be operating on a three-hour delay, with buildings opening at 11 a.m.
  • Rockingham City Hall will open at 10 a.m. As for sanitation services, Monday and Thursday garbage routes will be collected on Thursday, and Tuesday and Friday routes will be collected on Friday.
  • Hamlet facilities will open at noon.
  • Ellerbe Town Hall will open at 9 a.m. and garbage will be collected on Tuesday. The town council meeting has been moved to Feb. 9.
  • Richmond County Schools will continue to operate on a remote learning schedule for students and an optional workday for staff. Plans for Wednesday will be announced by 5 p.m. Tuesday.
  • All courts — superior, district and civil — are closed Tuesday.
  • The NASCAR testing originally scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday has been moved to Friday.

According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, secondary roads across the county “remain covered in snow and ice, posing a significant risk to motorists.”

“Drivers are urged to use extreme caution, especially on less-traveled roadways,” reads a Facebook post. “Conditions can change quickly, and shaded areas and bridges remain particularly hazardous.”

The National Weather Service is currently predicting a 50% chance of snow Wednesday night into Thursday morning, with little to no accumulation expected.
