ROCKINGHAM — The defendant in a July stabbing is now accused of having sexual relations with a young teen late last year.

An arrest warrant alleges that 22-year-old Sally Mae Taylor, of East Rockingham, engaged in intercourse and sexual acts with a child under the age of 15 on Dec. 1.

The warrant was issued Jan. 22 to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and Taylor was arrested the following day on charges of: stautory rape of a child younger than or equal to 15; stautory sex offense with child younger than or equal to 15; and taking indecent liberties with a child.

Taylor is being held without bond in the Richmond County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 19.

Should she be released, Taylor is prohibited from having contact with the reported victim.

Court records show Taylor is also charged with a probation violation.

She pleaded guilty to and was convicted of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury on Oct. 27 for stabbing another woman on July 4. Taylor was given 18 months of probation.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
