ROCKINGHAM — Police have filed multiple felony charges against a woman accused of stealing a purse and using the reported victim’s financial cards.
According to an arrest warrant, 39-year-old Adrienne Genia McNair, of Hamlet, stole another woman’s purse on Feb. 12.
The purse reportedly contained the owner’s debit card, CashApp card, Social Security card, $1,500 in cash, cigarettes, makeup, “and other miscellaneous items.”
McNair allegedly used the debit card for a purchase of $2.96 and attempted to make a purchase of $174.25, both from the same gas station in Rockingham.
An arrest warrant was issued Feb. 13 to the Rockingham Police Department, charging McNair with: felony larceny; two felony counts of financial card theft; two felony counts of identity theft; and one felony count each of obtaining property by false pretenses and attempted obtaining property by false pretenses.
McNair was arrested that day and booked into the Richmond County Jail, where she remained Feb. 16, held on a $20,000 secured bond. Her next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 26.
Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show McNair was convicted in 2013 of misdemeanor larceny in both Richmond and Moore counties.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
