Hermitage residents receive a sweet Valentine's visit

Tiffany Dunn and her 5-year-old son D.J. are at it again, but this time they brought a few more along with them.

These visitors hold a very special place in Dunn’s heart. D.J.’s sister, 15-year-old Blair Miller was able to attend for the first time along with their cousin, 15-year-old Samuel Dockery. Dunn also wanted to share this special visit with her lifelong best friend Brittanee Moore, so she was also invited along with Moore’s 9-year-old daughter, Heaven Bostick, and her 14-year-old son, William Bostick III.

On Friday, Feb. 7,residents of Hermitage Retirement Center had no idea they were about to receive such a sweet visit.

Dunn surprised them with a large bag full of wrapped homemade pound cake slices, and Moore (Lux Cups) made homemade strawberry cheesecake cupcakes to share with each resident as an early Valentine’s Day gift with the goal of making each one of them know they are thought of and loved.

The residents were very happy with the special visit, not to mention the added benefit of enjoying the treats. Hermitage Administrator Taylis Deese was happy to see everyone show up to visit the residents.

A special gift — a large helium balloon — was carried in by William Bostick, which he gave to the resident who had family the farthest away.

D.J. was raring to go from the start, and when asked what he enjoyed the most about the visit, he said “The smiles” — and there were definitely a lot of them.

“They were sweet and nice, and I got lots of hugs,” said Heaven Bostick. “I want to come back again.”

Treats were given out to each resident as well as the staff bringing cheer to everyone.

“I was blessed to be able to come out with my best friend and her family,” said Dunn. “We were able to spread love like Jesus would like to see us do for Valentine’s Day.

“It really put a smile on my face that Brittanee and her children were able to join us and bring some of her Lux Cups homemade cupcakes to share with the residents. I was also excited to see residents Ms. Peggy Townsend and Mable Gatewood from my community.”

Dunn also quoted Proverbs 22:6: “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

The seven visitors shared much love which made an impact on many residents of the Hermitage.
