LETTER: Biblical miracles are completely unbelievable

Posted
Dear Editor,

This is a continuation of my previous letter: "The threat of damnation drives me from Christianity."

In my previous letter, I denounce smug, unhumble Christians, especially those Christians who are willing to have me condemned to hell for my lack of belief.

It's equally vexing when Christians expect me to believe and accept — as the literal truth — the fantastic and supernatural events in the Bible. Things like the Great Flood and Noah's Ark , water-to-wine, the parting of the Red Sea, Jonah's "great fish," the sun standing still, the resurrection of saints (Mathew 27:52) where dead people rise and walk around Jerusalem like zombies, etc.  I doubt and disbelieve these events: I cannot choose to believe them as Christians expect.

Most importantly, I doubt the resurrection of Jesus. I cannot believe that Jesus, following his death, rose, walked around and talked with others and then floated (ascended) up into the sky. I doubt that happened, and I cannot believe it. If my doubt condemns me, so be it!
