ROCKINGHAM — The track at Rockingham Dragway was hot — both literally and figuratively — this weekend as two elapsed time records were broken during the Xtreme Dragbike Association’s Superbike Showdown.
Jamie Lopes, from the Dutch Caribbean island of St. Eustatius, set a new record in the Real Street Class with an ET of 7.210 on June 28.
Lopes also holds the class speed record, logging 211 mph on the speedometer May 17 at Virginia Motorsports Park.
Jason Dunigan, of Jackson, Mississippi, also etched his name in the record books the same day with an ET of 6.283 in the Pro Street Class.
XDA records show the only other series record currently from Rock is the top ET for the ATV Class, set in June 2025 by Blake Chavis.
Multiple records have been broken at Rockingham in the past several years.
Track officials expect more records to shatter when the XDA returns Aug. 21-23 for Bike Bash.
Afternoon storms halted the action Friday evening and twice on Saturday, but the racing was finished by early Sunday afternoon.
Other winners from the event included:
The XDA was founded in 2001 by brothers Chris and Jason Miller and ran at Rockingham and Maryland International Raceway, the latter then-owned by their father Royce Miller.
Chris Miller passed away in April 2024, but his brother continues to run the series.
Over the years, the series has evolved from MIRock to the International Dragbike League (2015) and the XDA (2018).
The XDA returned to the Rock in 2025 after more than a decade away.
