ROCKINGHAM — Not far from where the Richmond girls’ tennis team held its senior day, a second celebration Wednesday was held at Hinson Lake.
Ahead of Richmond Senior High School’s cross country meet, the boys’ and girls’ teams took time to recognize five total seniors.
This year’s seniors for the Raiders were Luke Gilliam, Jake Richardson and Elijah Shaw. For the Lady Raiders, Melanie Garcia and Jada Scott were celebrated.
Richardson has been a four-year runner for Richmond, while Gilliam (three years) and Scott (two years) were both multiyear runners. Garcia and Shaw participated in their first season this fall.
Head coaches Reggie Miller and Morgan Tedder introduced the runners in front of a crowd of teammates and family members, who also escorted runners during the ceremony.
During the senior day, favorite memories and future plans were among the things shared about the five soon-to-be graduates.
The Richmond Observer will publish the results of Wednesday’s meet when they’re made available.
