ROCKINGHAM — A death investigation is underway after a man was found unresponsive in East Rockingham Thursday afternoon.
According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, 36-year-old Frederick Warren Loftis was found on Hannah Pickett Avenue near the cross section with Safie Sixth Street.
No other details have been released, except that investigators have not yet classified the case as a homicide.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is assisting with the investigation and an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death, according to the sheriff’s office.
The investigation is ongoing.
The RO will have more information as it becomes available.
The RCSO investigated a homicide early Wednesday morning not far away on Central Avenue and charged a man with murder.
