ROCKINGHAM — A man reported missing earlier this week was found in Mecklenburg County, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
A press release on the RCSO Facebook page states that the Missing Persons Task
Force “worked tirelessly throughout Thursday and into the early morning hours of Friday” to locate 53-year-old Bobby Reece Bryant Jr.
Bryant, who reportedly has "cognitive challenges” had last been seen on a door camera late Tuesday morning and was reported missing the following day.
The sheriff’s office posted a press release about the investigation on Thursday, and that he had been found on Friday.
"Unlike in some previous missing persons cases, the task force was able to leverage the vehicle's digital footprint to pinpoint his location,” Sheriff Mark Gulledge said in a statement. “We determined he was in the Charlotte area and coordinated with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department to check several locations, ultimately finding him asleep in his car.”
There are still several active missing persons cases in Richmond County. The most recent is that of 19-year-old Anthony Aashawn Hoey.
Hoey was reportedly last seen on Cartledge Creek Road on Feb. 1.
Last month, the Richmond County Board of Commissioners allocated $40,000 to Crime Stoppers to assist with solving several active missing persons cases, including one dating back to 2015 and two within the past 15 months.
Anyone with information on any of these cases is encouraged to contact Richmond County Crime Stoppers at 910-997-5454 or through the P3 Tips app.
